The Road Here: Our Story
My name is Jonny Yucuis, the former pdriver of a gas powered car. In 2017 my daughter was born (She goes by Cece or The Cecemeister) and I was driving an aging Saturn. It was coming up on time to get a new car. I had been thinking about what life would be like in 10, 20, 30, 50 years and noticing an ever increasing number of articles showing that we need to take action now if we want to fend off the worst effects of climate change within our lifetimes.
With Cece as my motivation, I committed to switching to a fully electric car and ditch my gas-powered one. After a full year of driving in Rochester’s -30° an 100° temps, I’m convinced that electric vehicles are the superior option.
I’ve started Rochester Electric Vehicles as way to move Rochester towards an EV city through education, inspiration, and removing fear caused by the unknown. I’m hoping that by being the guinea pig and letting you know exactly what to expect, I’ll convince you to make the transition to an EV when it’s time to get your next vehicle (or even before).
